HOTEL GARDESANA: 1977-2010
The discovery of this spectacular “paesaggio lacustre” (lake scenery) for Mamma Elena and Papa Adriano goes back to 1968 and without any doubts, they move from their mountain village in the Val Brembana (BG) to Malcesine and quickly settle into a new life with lots of good will and determination. 1977 is the beginning of their wonderful experience of running the Hotel Gardesana situated in the centre of Malcesine. Whilst Mamma looks after the foreign guests with great joy, Papa Adriano takes the cable car and runs the Italian Ski School with enormous passion. The following years they bring up their children, Osvaldo, Carolina and Pietro with great love, the whole of the family collaborate in running the hotel.

The Monaci Family inaugurate their new activity, Gardesana Active Apartments where the children, even more determined and full of energy, welcome their guests in a contest of 360° including passion, sport and lots of entertainment… which Malcesine has the good fortune to offer.

I am born, live and work in Malcesine. I am Federico's and Alessio's mother.
I have travelled various parts of the world but I always have returned back home because I find in Malcesine the pleasure of leading a healthy lifestyle full of values.
Situated between the lake and the mountains, all seasons of the year it offers me great emotions to live!
I love cooking and enjoying good wine, outdoor sports (Nordic Walking and running), gardening and telling my friends about my travels. In 2014 I
challenged the Sahara-desert (111km non-stop), in 2017 the Namibia-desert (250km) and in 2018 the Lut-desert in Iran (250km), the hottest in the world:
as an ultramarathon-runner, mother, worker and woman, life has opened me up to a unique experience by discovering great forces that reside within us.
In 2019 I wrote the book "I miei deserti" (my deserts).
Every time I admire my lake and my mountains, it's as if it's the first time.
I love my work but above all I love passing on my passion for life.
I share the work in the apartments with my son Federico, passing him the beauty of being open to the world.

Hello everyone!
I am Federico the first son of Carolina Monaci and I am 20 years old. I attended hotel school where I learnt to be a waiter:
I worked in 5-star hotels and it was a great personal experience because I also had the opportunity to improve my German and English.
I help my uncle Pietro in our ACTIVE BIKE STORE and my mum with the check-in.
My greatest passion is windsurfing: it has allowed me to enjoy outdoor sports and to travel the world since I was a child!
I also love riding the mountain trails with my Bike-Enduro. I am very lucky to live in Malcesine because it is the perfect place to do both sports:
it'ts the windiest lake in Europe and Monte Baldo offers fantastic bike trails with great views!
